April Fools

Well, the first week of April is over.  It was great.  What makes it even better is that Sister Sawangwong didn't know what April Fools was...
So Tuesday we had District Meeting.  Elder Schmitz comes in and lays on the floor.  He's sick with a fever.  We start the meeting and start talking about our investigators and how to help them with their various problems.  All the sudden, Elder Schmitz stands up, takes everything out of his pocket, throws it on the ground, yells "I'm done with this!" walks out and slams the door behind him.  We were all shocked.  It was dead silent.  A few minutes later he peeks his head back in "April Fools!" he says.  We all die laughing.  Except for Sister Sawangwong.  She's crying.  She didn't get it - as to why he would act like that and just be kidding.  Oh man, it was hilarious!

Me and Sister Natthaya (She borrowed Sister Sawangong's tag...but she's practically a missionary herself!)

This week was interesting.  We got another investigator, Brother Hack, and he's way interesting.  He reads the Book of Mormon so diligently.  He started reading with the intent to maybe just read a page, then continue watching TV.  But then he just kept reading.  Eventually he turned the TV off and read through all the introductory pages and read another 2 chapters.  Then he just really likes to ask questions.  He has been looking for answers for a long time and now he feels a place that will finally be able to answer them.  The only problem - his questions are super easy to answer:  All he has to do is pray.  But when we start to answer he just says "I have another question!"  He's way good, but I think for him we will just have to help him understand the importance of simple and personal revelation.  He doesn't have to look far for the answers that are so readily available.  It just goes to show that sometimes we really just look beyond the mark, when all we need to do is sharpen our focus a little bit more to see the answers right in front of our face.  The Gospel is only hard if we make it hard.

Brother Sing got the Holy Ghost this week too! At first we thought he wasn't going to make it.  The Elders saw him at Big C Saturday, where he told them that he was going to Cambodia that night.  He called us when he was on his way to the bus station. We didn't know what to do.  If he didn't get confirmed this week, he couldn't this next week because that is when we were having conference broadcasted in Thai, so no Sacrament meeting.  That's two weeks and he was going to be out of our reach completely.  As I was contemplating what to do, or pretty much just praying for God's help in protecting him, he calls us.  It's Sunday morning, and his bus still hasn't come.  He tells us "i'm going to go to church for an hour to get the Holy Ghost, and then hopefully my bus will come!"  He went, he got confirmed, and now we don't have to worry quite so much. We are still praying that he will somehow come in contact with the missionaries and the church in his home town, but we will see!  I am just so thankful to the Lord that he allowed Brother Sing to come to church for that one hour.  I have no doubt that Brother Sing was the prepared person the Lord had intended for us to find.  And He prepared him through it all.  Both his baptism and his confirmation were miracles.  The Lord works with us through ALL stages of the process of teaching and converting.  It isn't us at all!

Us after Brother Sing's confirmation on Sunday.  :)
That's about it for today.  Talk to you all next week!

Love,
Sister Norrell

We tried to get pillows for our hard desk chairs... of course I needed to be difficult and want the one under all the other ones.  This is after all the ones on top fell over the other side of the aisle...  On the bright side, I got the one I wanted!

Us after making a mess. Oops!
